What a beautiful development that the California Supreme Court made marriage legal for gay couples too. That’s TOO: legal for gay couples just as it’s legal for hetero couples.
Their reasoning was impeccable, if you ask me, referencing the fact that separate but equal (not their term) actually isn’t equal at all, but institutes 2nd class citizenship and signals to the world that theirs is a different arrangement, you see, and so it’s probably okay, then, to discriminate against gay couples and individuals in other ways. Anyway, the news made me very proud and very happy and I’ll have more to say about it all another time. In the meantime, I’d sure like to see a wave of enlightenment on the subject sweep from coast to coast.
